A fading screen in the Nivona 830 and similar models.

One of the most common faults that can be found in the Nivon coffee machines is the gradual burnout of the display until it goes out completely. This is a typical fault of the entire series called TYP691 and, in fact, sooner or later - it will appear on every copy. It applies to the 830/831 models, but also to the better equipped 840, 845 and the top 855 and 877 from that period.

Why is this happening?

A display with an OLED matrix was used there, which after some time ends its life gradually darkening, i.e. simply burning out. As far as we know, models from the first years of production last longer than those bought later, but this is not a rule, but only a common opinion. Interestingly, in the next model generation, the manufacturer decided to use color LCD matrices, which are no longer exposed to the above-mentioned fault, and even if single cases of damage to their backlight are known, this is not a problem as common as in the older version. The use of an OLED panel (much more expensive than LCD) was supposed to improve the visibility of the displayed content in direct sunlight.

Is it worth repairing or buying such a coffee machine?

Many people may ask themselves this question. My subjective answer is yes, it's worth it. There are two main reasons: First, durability. Nivona coffee machines are very popular not only because of the quality of the espresso they contain, but also because of the high class of the components used, which translates into high reliability. Yes, this is not a bug - high reliability. There are confirmed cases of "mileage" of about 80 thousand. brewed coffees in these machines (with regular maintenance). It is worth noting that by introducing a new series almost 10 years ago - now highly refreshed and still in production - (see, for example, the latest model 825), the manufacturer set the bar high in terms of the quality of coffee brewing, but this is a topic for a separate study. Secondly, the economic argument - spare parts for these machines are quite affordable, and their price on the secondary market seems very attractive. Well-kept copies cost just over PLN 1,000. PLN and it is worth bearing in mind that this price has not changed for some time.

Is it possible to fix such a blanked screen?

In our coffeexpress.pl store there is a regeneration service for the display in question with a real 2-year warranty. But don't worry - the repair consists in replacing the damaged and defective screen with one that is free from this defect (along with part of the control electronics). It is also possible to purchase an already refurbished module with a deposit - returned upon return of the damaged copy. In addition, we sell the same service on the Allegro auction site.
